Founding and Host Partner
Visit Rwanda is proud to be the official Founding and Host Partner of the Basketball Africa League.
Through the partnership, Rwanda hosted the first-ever Basketball Africa League tournament at the world class BK Arena during its first two seasons in 2021 and 2022 and will host the 2023 playoffs and finals from 20 -27 May.
This unique collaboration showcases Rwanda as a world-class tourism and investment destination and positions the country as a continental hub for sporting events and sports-based tourism.
Visit Rwanda and the Basketball Africa League also collaborate on basketball and youth development initiatives.

The Tournament
This season’s Basketball Africa League season will tip off on Saturday, 20 May 2023 at the BK Arena, with 8 qualifying teams from the Sahara and Nile Conferences competing.
The teams are Stade Malien (Mali), Cape Town Tigers (South Africa), Al Ahly Sporting Group (Egypt), Rwanda Energy Group (Rwanda), Association Sportive des Douanes (Senegal), Clube Ferroviàrio da Beira (Mozambique), Clube Atlético Petroleos de Luanda, and Abidjan Basket Club (Cote d’ivoire)

Kigali Arena
The Location
The BK Arena is the largest indoor stadium in East Africa, with a capacity to seat 10,000 people. The multi-purpose arena will host all the playoffs and final games of the 2023 Basketball Africa League Season.
The Arena comprises of 13 cafeterias and restaurants, six changing rooms, two rooms for the coaching staff, a fitness center, a media hall, and a doping control room.
The sports venue is located in Kigali’s sporting precinct nearby soon to be completed 45,000 capacity Amahoro Stadium.
